Jack Bergman (Republican – Missouri) introduced H.R. 2749 to amend title 38 of the United States Code in order to improve contracts oversight by the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs in regards to businesses owned by veterans.

The bill was introduced on May 26, 2017 and sent to the House Committee on Veteran’s Affairs. The bill was brought before the House on July 24, 2017 and passed with a voice vote. The bill was sent to the Senate on July 24, 2017.

The bill is intended to add oversight in awarding contracts to prevent non-veteran owned companies from abusing the ability to get contracts by utilizing sub-contractors that are veterans or veteran-owned businesses and to ensure that the companies being listed on contracts are utilized in the manner they are promised on the contract bids.

Ann Kuster (Democrat – New Hampshire)
