The Senate met for two pro-forma sessions, in which no official business was conducted. Each session met for approximately one minute and the session was then immediately adjourned. The sessions were on August 22 and August 25.


Three members of the House of Representatives met for two minutes on August 22. During this meeting, two bills were introduced:

H.R. 3663 – To designate the medical center of the Department of Veterans Affairs in Huntington, West Virginia, the Hershel “Woody” Williams VA Medical Center

H.R. 3664- To amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to provide that the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation may only be removed for certain causes, and for other purposes.

No other formal business was conducted.

On August 25, 2017, eleven members of the House of Representatives met for two minutes. During this meeting, the following bills were introduced:

H.R. 3665– To require the Inter-Agency Task Force on Harmful Algal Blooms and Hypoxia to develop a plan for reducing, mitigating, and controlling harmful algal blooms and hypoxia in the Greater Everglades region, and for other purposes.

H.R. 3666– To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a registry of certain veterans who were stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama, and for other purposes.

Committee reports for the following bills were filed:

House Report 115-277 for H.R. 965 – To redesignate the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site as the “Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park”, and for other purposes, with an amendment

House Report 115-278, Part 1 for H.R. 1807 –  To exempt from the Lacey Act and the Lacey Act Amendments of 1981 certain water transfers between any of the States of Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana

The Senate and House will meet again on August 29 for similar sessions, where no business will be conducted.
